Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from Counselling?

Counselling can provide a safe and confidential space to explore issues with no judgement
Counselling may enable you to see things from a different perspective.

Simply sharing with a counsellor can make you feel less lonely and isolated.  That you are not in this alone.
Counselling can help you to better understand yourself and your experiences therefore enabling you to identify what you want and need.

Is everything I tell you in confidence?

I take your confidentiality very seriously so that you are free to share whatever it is you need to share.

However there are some limits to my keeping complete confidentiality which will be outlined to you when we first meet.

How much counselling will I need?

Everyone is different and the issues people bring to counselling are different so there is no set number of sessions.  I recommend once weekly sessions for a few weeks in order to develop the therapeutic relationship that is required if counselling is going to be successful.  Thereafter we will have regular reviews of your counselling journey.
