Confidentiality

 All sessions will be conducted in the strictest of confidence however there are exceptions.  If you disclose any involvement in certain illegal activity, I am duty bound to report this to the appropriate authority, and will not inform you first.

If I consider that there is a serious risk of harm to self or others, we would discuss these concerns together to decide whether or not to involve a third party.

A requirement of my professional body is that I receive regular supervision.  My supervision sessions take place on zoom with a supervisor in the UK.  It may be that I will take our working together to supervision and whilst I will (unless you advise otherwise) disclose your name I will not disclose any other information that may identify you.

My counselling room does not have a waiting area so I ask that in order to permit me to respect your confidentiality you do not arrive early for your appointment.  The door is left open five minutes before the start of your session.

Cancellations

Sessions may be cancelled with up to 24 hours’ notice.  Sessions that are cancelled within less than 24 hours notice are charged at the full session fee.

If I have to change an appointment I will endeavour to let you know as soon as possible.

Payment 

Each session is charged at a set fee and it is expected that payment is made promptly after each session.  I am listed with some medical insurance companies as an approved counsellor.  In the event that payment is not made, this could result in the ending of sessions. 

Code of Ethics and Practice and Complaints Procedure

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their ethical framework to ensure that you, as the client, receive a professional service that is grounded in safe and ethical practice.

Complaints about a BACP member are dealt with under the BACP’s  professional conduct procedure (PCP).
